  • Try this and let me know if you 're able to do it.  I got pretty far, but got stuck at the 2nd mini-kite step.  Also, I'm kind of sleepy, so that's my excuse. :)

  • I didn't start or use my car on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday.  So on Monday, after it snowed, I couldn't start my car, but I've gone longer than 3 days before without starting it.  Anyway, so I got a new battery and that didn't work.
I'm going to try to start it again, and if that doesn't work, time for a new car.  Probably Infiniti G35 6MT.  No way am I gettting an automatic.

Link of the day (since only one person who reads my blog uses del.icio.us):

Stop carrying all those little bonus cards on your keychain and just carry one card, laminated in your wallet that has all of your cards for Borders, Best Buy, Safeway, etc.

  • snow

The first snow of winter '07 finally came today to the D.C. metro area.  It started out really light, around noon and started getting heavier around 4 PM.  There must've been at least 5-10 cars in ditches along the Fairfax County Parkway.  I saw a Camaro, Jeep, and some other cars that couldn't get their cars straight.

But what would this world be without the obligatory SUV driver who thinks he/she is superman, and goes 50 MPH?  Yes, I saw that one too.  Don't know what happened to them but I'm sure they got stuck too.  Most drivers were only leaving a one second following distance; better than the 0.000001 second following distance they leave when the weather is normal.

Anyway, call me a wuss -- I don't like driving in snow.  I can handle it just fine; I just worry about other drivers.  But as I've gotten older, I feel I don't have as much patience as I used to, and driving in the snow requires a lot of it.  Go slow, leave lots of room between the car in front of you, etc.

However, I do love shoveling snow. It's a good workout and it's fun having the cleanest parking spot in the neighborhood.

  • I haven't written anything in a while.  I'm not dead, yet. :)
My recent posts have all been about technology and videogames.  Probably because there's nothing to do at work, and I'm reading gaming sites all day.

Well, this is going to be another tech entry, kind of.  Some websites are really amazing -- and the strange thing is, I can easily build the same kind of website/application, because it's what I do for a living!

I found cheap airline seats at kayak.com and found the best seats using seatguru.com.

Kayak searches over 200+ airlines for the best fares, and seatguru has diagrams telling you which seats to avoid, or if you look at it the other way, which seats you should try to get first.

I have a lot of cool links like these on my del.icio.us account, which I've mentioned before. Don't put your bookmarks in folders -- that's so old fashioned.  Give your bookmarks "tags", which are descriptive words that you choose.  You can then retrieve all of your bookmarks with specific tags, by using the url like this:
            http://del.icio.us/<your_username>/cheap+airlines
which would return all tags with "cheap" and "airlines".
You can add and remove tags at the end of the URL as you please.

Anyway, enough boring tech talk -- how about 24?  It was really awesome.  Like sorjai, I could've seen it early too, but I refused to download the episodes. (I'm too lazy.)

  • *drool*  This is the Motorola KRZR k1m, cosmic blue color.  What's so special about it compared to the other colors, like black?  Well, the blue one has a 2 MP camera whereas the others have a 1.3 MP camera.  Cons?  This one loses the external, touch sensitive keys to control your music.  I don't care -- this thing is sexy.

Cingular, as far as I know (or maybe just not in the D.C. area, YMMV), currently does not carry this model, nor this color.  I've been w/Cingular for over 6 years and I've never switched.  Anyway, my options are to get this one unlocked, or wait for them to get this in stock.  I think it's a lot prettier than the Sony Ericson 810:

    What are your thoughts?

  • This is part 3 of Street Fighter: The Later Years.  Check it out!

  • voice of Pikachu

This is awesome -- a clip of Ikue Otani, the voice actress of Pikachu. Am I the only one who is not freaked out by this video? (btw, I found this clip from a story on Kotaku.)

  • "vacation" in Hollywood, FL

So J & I are in FL, mainly because of a Spring (a Java [programming language] framework) conference held at the Westin Diplomat.  This place has a nice two-level pool, and a spa and golf course are nearby.  Anyway, the second day I was here, I ran into the creator of the Spring framework, Rod Johnson!
I also saw Floyd Marinescu, creator of TheServerSide

Here's me with Rod Johnson (2nd from left) and other members of interface21, his company:
