  • I'm writing from San Francisco.  First day was really tiring -- just went to Chinatown and had dim sum, while looking for some Japanese import PSP games and/or some Naruto merchandise.  Today (Sunday) was a little more exciting.  Joanne and I started our day at the gay/lesbian pride parade.  We took a lot of pictures, so i'll post some of the better ones when i get back to VA.

Tomorrow is the JavaOne conference... should be a lot of fun!

  • I went to a Java user's group today right after work.  Man, almost
everyone there was a total geek!  I bet they thought the same
about me. :)   However, I was one of the few that was actually in
shape.  They had free pizza, which is good, but if I was holding a
meeting like this, I would include some healthy pizzas with 100% whole
grain crust, fat-free organic cheese, and organic tomato sauce with
vegetarian meat and some milkshakes with whey protein.... then I
wouldn't mind eating 5 slices like I did!

Anyway, it was really educational. A lot of my coworkers didn't even go
    just because they can't charge the time.  I don't care about that;
in this field, if you don't keep your skills up to date, you will
struggle to catch up later, and you might find yourself out of a job.

  • Is it me, or is it really hard to find pants or shorts that fit?
Everytime I go to the store, they always have 38, 40, 41, 42, etc, but
I can't find any 29s or 30s!!!!!!  So today, I settled on some
shorts that weren't really my color, but I guess they think there
aren't a lot of people with waists smaller than 40!

  • Just found out from the news that Wachovia bank issued an apology since
its founders (I think; either that or something similar) had
slaves.  That's nice, it seems that everyone is apologizing for
the mistreatment of Africans/African-Americans, but you never see that
for Asian-Americans.  What about that guy who got killed because
someone thought he was Japanese, and therefore taking away from his job,
building American cars, when in fact, the victim was Chinese?
See, I don't even recall the name because it was "swept under the
    carpet" so well.

  • Just saw Star Wars w/J.

Call me a geek, but I really felt sorry for a lot of the
characters.  I felt bad for Anakin, although I knew it was
inevitable that he would become Vader.  I felt even worse for
Obi-wan, since he was devestated that his student fell to the dark
side.  Padme felt her heart had been broken by Anakin.
Really sad.  I know, it's just a movie with fictional characters
but I really enjoyed the film.

  • PSP is addicting, especially the game Lumines. I just spent about 3 hours playing that game!
I should get to sleep, since tomorrow is my graduation convocation for my new master's degree in software engineering.

I'm going to stop playing PSP so much, so it won't be boring on my flight to San Francisco in June.

  • Looks like the MPAA is suing TV bit torrent sites.  How annoying!
Who has time to sit around at 8PM on a Tuesday/Wednesday/etc.????
I guess I'll go back to using my VCR.

At least there should be some place to legally download the shows then, like iTunes for music.

edit: I didn't mean to offend anyone by saying "who has time to sit around at 8PM...."
Just referring to myself.  Every weekday, I was (or still am)
either in school or TKD.  The only free weeknight I had was Monday
    and Friday.

  • Now that school is over, I can relax... today I'm watching 24 and
playing my new PSP, which Joanne got for me for my birthday/graduation
    gift.

How did I do on my exams/classes?  In one class, I got the highest
grade on the final (99%), which also gave me the highest grade in the
class.  I didn't expect to have the highest since I know there are
some bright PhD students in my class.  In the other class, even
    though I didn't finish the project, I still got a B+.  So I know I
    am truly lucky.

What else should I do?  I think I'll work out, read more books, practice piano,  play videogames, and catch up on 24.

  • I don't know how many of my readers are in undergraduate or graduate school, but I found two good sites:
www.campusdirt.com   [ rates each school on basic things]
www.ratemyprofessor.com [rates specific professors, even lets you know if they're hot or not!]

sorry about not making the links clickable above, but try them out... it's fun!
