  • Vegetarian chicken nuggets, buffalo wings, and sausage links are all
pretty good.  Well, the only thing that doesn't taste like its
meat counterpart are the sausage links.  But eating this stuff
helps -- you can notice much sharper definition in your six-pack.
Not to say I don't enjoy my food, because I still eat white rice,
vegetables, fish, and some meat once in a while.  I'll eat some
fattening American food on the weekends, but on the weekdays, it's
    pretty healthy.

I was able to get a cap & gown at the bookstore; in fact, they had
plenty!  I guess there are a lot of slackers out there, like me.
There was also a health fair.  Some of the nurses there
were kind of snobby.  I got a free appointment to a chiropractor,
where they'll do an x-ray and find out the source of any pain in the
wrist, back, neck, etc.  It's pretty cool.  The fun part was
putting on the "beer glasses" and trying to walk in a straight
line.  If that was anything like being drunk, then I've never been
drunk before.  I couldn't see a thing, and everything was
    blurry.

  • Advice: don't take two graduate school courses if you're working full
time, in addition to other hobbies.  Something might suffer along
the way.  Not only does it require a lot of time management
skills, but most likely, you won't have that much time to manage
    anyway.

I totally forgot about some graduation package that came in the mail
that informed me as to when to pick up my cap & gown.  Guess
what? It was at the beginning of March!  So, I'm taking the day
off tomorrow (Thursday) and going to see if they have any spare cap
& gowns left.  If not, oh well, but I was really looking
forward to "walking" and most likely, my mom might be
disappointed.  However, if I know her, she's changed a little in
the past few years and will probably be 'cool' about it.

I just beat myself up about it more than anyone else.  For some
reason, when I'm in a relationship, I'm not as "tough" as I am when I'm
alone.  I think I let my guard down and am not as strict on myself
as when I'm single.  Not to say I want to be single, but just
    noticing a trend.

  • Ever been in a state where you've been working so hard for school that
it's all you think about?  I keep waking up in the middle of the
night, thinking about Java syntax.  (Java is a programming
language.)  Just a few minutes ago, my cat, Fancy, jumped up on my
bed, and as she was rubbing her face against my hand, I thought I
should write some code for her, especially the ServiceLocator pattern
from the book "Core J2EE Patterns." Weird???  I need a break.

  • Edit: Here's a picture of a 540:

Most of you might not know what I'm talking about, but I finally did a
540!  One of my classmates asked me to do it again, to drill it
in, and I kept landing them!!
It's true -- you can do anything you want if you put your mind to
it.  This saying has helped me accomplish a lot this year.
Just think positively, and you can do anything.  I'm 27 years old
and now I can do a 540!  Most people who do it are teenagers in
    high school or even younger.

    edit: Since BunkerBuster asked,
I did a 540 kick in tae kwon do.  It is a like a tornado kick, but
you jump off the kicking leg and instead of landing on the non-kicking
leg, you land on the leg you jumped from and kicked with.  There
are lots of videos and tutorials online about how to do it, one of the
    best is www.trickstutorials.com.

edit #2: A friend of mine gave me this link http://www.agingresearch.org/calculator
to check your life expectancy.  he got 58!! Believe it not, I'll
live to 101.7 if I continue my current lifestyle.  Check it out
and let me know what you get!

  • When you breakup with your significant other, do you hold on to the
reminders of the relationship?  I do, but I think somewhere along
the way, I thought one or more of the following:
    1) I don't need this anymore... I've got a better girlfriend now.
    2) If I hold onto this stuff, someone will see it and think I'm not over her.
    3) I don't want this kind of sadness in my life... it's not worth it.

However, going back, I only have about 3 e-mails from my first
girlfriend.  I must have deleted the email that she sent so that
she could avoid a face-to-face breakup.  (wimp!)  It was
really long and yes, I admit, brings tears to my eyes.  I just
wish I kept this stuff, just to reminisce sometimes. (edit:
It is really sad because she's from Japan and moved back right after
college, and there is basically no way to find her via the internet,
just to chat about old times....)

So, do you hold on to reminders, or do you throw it all away, or maybe something in between?

  • It was in college where I really started thinking postive, which helped
me physically and mentally.  I truly felt that if you give enough
effort, you can do anything (within reason -- for instance, we can't
fly like Superman).  However, I was surrounded by losers at work
that pulled me down with them.  One guy who was smart, but had no
social skills whatsoever, and who had hygiene problems was really
negative.  I totally forgot all the life lessons I learned and
    experienced during college.

Well, I don't let those kind of people get me down.  It helps to have positive friends.

The inspiration for this entry was that I just finished coding up some
web services (a project for one of my final grad school courses before
I graduate this May).  It seemed impossible since the technology
is (somewhat) new and not a lot of people, at least in my class and the
workplace, have a lot of expertise in the subject.

There were a lot of "bumps on the road", but after a lot of work, I got
it.  Like the Adidas slogan, "IMPOSSIBLE IS NOTHING."

  • I helped my mom buy a new PC today See: here.  It's the G4 8500, from Shuttle.
It's pretty good, for a prebuilt system. AMD 64 3200, 1 GB RAM, and it
doesn't have integrated video; rather it has a REAL AGP card!!!
Sorry, I got too excited since I'm such a computer geek.

Tae kwon do was interesting today.  The instructor, who is around
23 years old, showed us demo skills, along with the demo team.
They immediately went into full splits, and everyone behind me was like
"woah", but when it was our turn, luckily, I could do a full split as
    well.
However, later, we had to do these shoulder rolls, i.e. where you roll
on the ground, but your head doesn't touch the ground, unlike in
elementary school gymnastics.  At first I really couldn't do it,
and I felt like I wasn't as good as these kids.  Finally, after a
few more tries, I got it!  Then I practiced at home about 20 more
times, to get it into my muscle memory.

I finally decided which company I'm going with.  I'll update via a protected post.

  • Solving this jigsaw puzzle and posting about this sweepstakes for Big Red makes me eligible for free Xanga Premium for life...

  • edit: 12:19AM Monday- How could
I be so dumb?  The calendar from France that my mom gave me as a
souvenier is messing up my sense of time.  Ever since I
reformatted my C: drive and reinstalled XP, I didn't notice that I was
one day off.  The calendar on the wall shows the first day on the leftmost side of each week as Monday, not Sunday.
edit: Nope, I'm really crazy or
stressed out.  It really is Tuesday.  I forgot, because I
thought today was really Sunday since I didn't go to work today.

What's better for TV, satellite or cable?  Satellite (DirecTV)
seems to offer a lot more for the same price as cable.  But I
don't trust satellite broadband -- how fast is it?  Anyone have
    experience with it?

Can't believe it was 70 degrees today.  Must be global warming.
Then tomorrow it's going to snow?  Sounds like that movie that
came out where the world was freezing over; Jake G. was in it.

Switched back to 800x600; the text is too tiny and I only have a 15" monitor, I believe.
I'm going to help my mom buy a computer for tele-commuting. At first
she only wanted a laptop, but then I convinced her to get an SFF (small
form factor) PC  by Shuttle.  Does anyone own one, and if so,
    what are your thoughts/recommendations?

Piano class is getting tougher, but I'm managing to keep up even though I barely have time to practice.

Made whole-grain, high-fiber (good carb) spaghetti for dinner. I'm a
health nut but everyone else around me isn't... kinda hard to eat
healthy, but if you eat Asian food mostly, you'll stay thin anyway.

  • What kind of resolution do you set your monitor at?
For the longest time, I was at 800x600, but I just changed it to
1024x768.  It was really hard to get used to at first, but now I
really like it. You can see more screen at once and things look
    sharper.  Yeah, I'm a geek, but I don't care.

I think I'll get cable when I switch jobs.  I need all those extra
channels for anime, sports, movies, etc.  Especially TVB so I can
improve my Cantonese, and so J can be entertained.  I like
watching G4 Tech TV; they talk about videogames a lot.

Even though I'm stressed, I kind of like it. It feels good to pass a
midterm with an A after a weekend of studying.  Once it's all
over, I'm going to do my taxes. Hopefully it'll be a big refund, esp.
with the mortgage.  For once, I'm not going to splurge, but I'm
going to pay down my school loan.
