We went looking at houses again today. It's always a stressful
event -- you look at a house, imagine where you would like to put your
TV, your kitchen table, how you would decorate the master bedroom,
etc. Then, after you're done looking, you speak to the
sales manager, and reality hits you. They want $45,000 within
five days, assuming you put down the necessary $3,000 just to lock the
price.Housing prices here are ridiculous. I realize it could be worse
(such as in CA), but I'm sure Northern VA prices must follow close
behind. The funny thing is, the houses we looked at are pretty
far from the city, at least an hour or more away.Looking on the bright side, at least I own right now, and can build
equity. I have a good job which pays well, and the only thing I
can do now is just live frugally, be patient, and pounce when the right
opportunity shows up.

prices are insane... my gf's mom just reently closed a place for 400k in centreville, but they are now selling in the range of 600-700 in the same lot
Don't you have a condo? I'd stick with a condo until I get married.(Personal opinion)
that is an outrageous amount.
