  • I saw Kung Fu Hustle last night w/Joanne.  I'm glad they didn't
dub it; rather, it's in Mandarin and Cantonese.  Joanne was
shocked that I didn't know Stephen Chow was the main character in the
movie.  I knew he was the director/producer, but I didn't know he
was starring in the movie as well.  I was born and brought up in
the US; my only exposure to Chinese movies was basically zero except
the few times I'd go to my cousin's house and watch some old school TVB
movies, so I don't know that many actors or actresses from HK.

I'm taking vacation this week to do my school work.  Why does that
sound so shocking to my coworkers? I don't get it.  Are they
trying to tell me they never had to take off one or two days just to do
    some school work?

  • yeah...i'm glad it was in cantonese too...it made some of the jokes more funny...than if you were to read it.

  • hehe, I guess u were just deprived... cuz I was born and raised here and I watched PLENTY of Steven Chow movies, haha. But in Kung Fu hustle, he actually took a step back and let the others take center stage for the most part... his only significant part in the movie is in the end.

Maybe your coworkers think that taking vacation time to study is a waste. I sure think it is :) . My company gives study time for us and stuff, and I use as much as of that as I can. My vacation days is for that, vacations! :) .

  • lol...it was in canto, mandarin, and english.

  • ryc: do? not planning on doing anything, i don't think.
