  • travel suggestions?

edit/update  Thanks everyone, for your tips and suggestions.  To clarify, I have to go to San Jose for the conference, but during my free time, I can go to SF.  How easy, or difficult is it to get to SF from San Jose?

Also, from the sounds of it, it sounds like San Jose is boring and there is absolutely NOTHING to do. Is this true??????

One perk of my job is that I have a training budget, which I can use for conferences, books, etc.  I usually end up using it for a little of both.  With the conferences, I can get a mini-vacation, but my employer can't cover my time.

    So far, I've been to:
    1. Miami, FL
    2. San Francisco
    on the company's dime.

My next destination is San Jose, CA next month.  Is there anything worth seeing in San Jose, or should I travel to San Francisco?

  • i heard san jose is boring.. nothing to do there

  • San Jose - Tech Museum? They have a Japantown area dealie too. Er, if not, SF!

  • hmmm no help here...i've never been to san jose! but SF has lotsa yummy restaurants!

  • SJ = Silicon Valley = Apple Computers...ooops I mean Apple Inc...they just changed their name.

  • SJ got some local stuff like those asian malls, but other than that, not much to see. Better off checking out the city.

  • I'd say go to San Jose because you've already been to San Fransisco. There might not be a lot but then again who knows? You might find something to do and you can say you've traveled to a lot of places.

  • there's nothing in MAN JOSE.  san francisco is waaaay better.

    but, i'm biased.

  • im biased like rips31 but i usually drive to SJ from SF for Santana Row and Valley Fair. im not sure what else is there to in sj other than shpopping. but if you are willing to drive 40 mins to SF then you should and check out the scenic drive on 280 north.

  • if you truely want to see the birth place of the COmputer Silicon valley does show case a few things to satisfy the tech head...like where Hewlet or was it packard that developed the first chip of some sort or something like that...forgot...but it's there.

SF is nice, but not for the drive there for an hour and then back...need more time.

  • In San Jose, how about visiting Six Flags Magic Mountain...?

ryc:  Digital SLRs are great and not necessarily expensive.  So far I'm happy with the quality of photos from my Nikon D40, which is at the lower end of the spectrum at about $500.  It's an investment, but I think it's worth the money, especially if you enjoy photography.  I used my camera this weekend and took 400+ shots (maybe 25% of them with flash) and somehow the battery is still 2/3 charged.  That's freaking awesome!

  • awesome bday list, thanks, haha.
