  • snow

The first snow of winter '07 finally came today to the D.C. metro area.  It started out really light, around noon and started getting heavier around 4 PM.  There must've been at least 5-10 cars in ditches along the Fairfax County Parkway.  I saw a Camaro, Jeep, and some other cars that couldn't get their cars straight.

But what would this world be without the obligatory SUV driver who thinks he/she is superman, and goes 50 MPH?  Yes, I saw that one too.  Don't know what happened to them but I'm sure they got stuck too.  Most drivers were only leaving a one second following distance; better than the 0.000001 second following distance they leave when the weather is normal.

Anyway, call me a wuss -- I don't like driving in snow.  I can handle it just fine; I just worry about other drivers.  But as I've gotten older, I feel I don't have as much patience as I used to, and driving in the snow requires a lot of it.  Go slow, leave lots of room between the car in front of you, etc.

However, I do love shoveling snow. It's a good workout and it's fun having the cleanest parking spot in the neighborhood.

  • yeah a little snow here too. I hope it isn't too bad tomorrow so I can drive to work without too much trouble. Was already sliding and stuff on my way home. Grrr...

  • yea...snow sucks for driving. of course, salt really messes up cars, too.

  • I'm afraid of the retards on the roads on normal days.
