I don't know why, but it bothers me when I hear people mention "egg
drop soup", "hot and sour", etc. and "Chinese food" in the same
sentence. I heard some people behind me today, when I was
attending a talk on Java, talk like that, as if that's real Chinese
food. Of course, they weren't Chinese, nor were they Asian.
And they wonder why they're fat???? Simple -- stop putting gravy on
your rice!I think I'm weird in that the Asians I know who were white-washed when
they were younger, are still white-washed. Although I do things
from each culture, I don't shy away from either. It's easy to
absorb American culture, but I think it takes more effort to absorb
Chinese culture, living in America, while almost all of your friends
are non-Asian.

can't really blame ppl if they're ignorant, can you?
While I love my mom's home cooking, I have to admit I just American style 'Chinese food'. Things like chicken with cashew nuts, orange beef, sesame chicken, egg drop soup...YUM!
i dont think real chinese food suits the american palate. its like how olive garden and pizza is italian food
gravy on rice..hmmm... i used to know this guy who put butter on rice...ekkk.
