I may have written something similar before, but here goes....
If you're not from northern VA, then if you're ever here driving and
you let some car into your lane or do something else courteous, don't
expect a hand-wave as a "thank you" -- people here just don't do it,
like they're unaware such a gesture exists, or they're not thankful, or
perhaps a combination of both.On the other hand, don't expect others to be courteous to you. As
soon as you turn on your signal, if someone sees you do that, the
driver will immediatley close the gap so that you can't get in and/or
you miss a potential exit, or worse, you have to make a turn onto a
street that you didnt' plan on turning on to.Another thing to be aware of -- people don't like staying in their
lane. They like driving so that about 60% of their car is in one
lane and 40% is in yours. It happens more often on curvy roads
because people only know how to go straight.

That is so similar to China traffic
yeah u did write about this before. Who gives a crap about drivers down there, don't let them cut in! haha.
I noticed that, but i wave to people all the time. If you someone wave, it'll be me!
ungrateful people! that's why i don't let anyone in....unless she's good lookin..
One of the reasons why I don't miss driving in NOVA. Then again, I probably have to get used to it once I move back home.
Whoever cuts me off usually gets cut off by someone else. Heh. I'll avoid driving in that area if I ever have that opportunity.
some people say NYC drivers are the worse, but after watching the drivers in the VA/MD area, they are unbelievably stupid.
i agree with timer15 -- it sounds like traffic in china. people wouldnt even let you pass or let pedistrians walk across the streets!
RE: thank you thank you. =)
Hahaha that is so true. NoVA is full of aggressive drivers who can't really drive. Although i really can't be saying anything cuz I can't drive either. =P
